is a fully managed system that can deliver a range of IT services including: network security, remote working, email serving and filtering, web filtering, file serving, groupware and data backup/disaster recovery.
The heart of the system is a Linux-based low cost server appliance which is easy to install and operate, and offers greater functionality, reliability and flexibility over more traditional servers. Implementations can vary from a simple Internet gateway security appliance up to a full all-in-one business server for a small to medium enterprise.
Traditionally, IT solutions are delivered with a server running an operating system (OS) which needs to be patched on a weekly or even daily basis to stay secure and operational. Software is then loaded on to the server to provide services such as file and email serving. Additional software is needed to provide, for example, anti-virus, anti-spam and web filtering. These different pieces of software need to be carefully chosen and maintained in order to work reliability together, and that is where problems begin. For instance, a single update on one piece of software could upset the operation of any of the other applications on the server. All of these individual components have been developed in isolation by different teams so together they may not operate as expected. Therefore, the day-to-day maintenance of the integrity of such a system can be difficult and costly. On the other hand Igaware server appliances deliver services that have been engineered to work together and can operate continually for long periods without any user attention. Updates and upgrades are transparent and automatic, and there is no need to perform server re-boots. The result is a highly robust, reliable and cost-effective system.
Here is a list of all the individual functions that an Igaware system can provide:-
The above functions are grouped into five service delivery options and the customer has a choice ranging from a single basic service offering firewalling, intrusion prevention and VPN, up to a full all-in-one business server with all five services. There is a simple charging structure consisting of a small setup charge and a monthly service charge which is dependent upon the service level chosen. This provides a low cost entry level for the customer with little capital outlay being required.
