OSYS specialises in consultancy and design for mobile systems. Many field systems that deliver Geographic Information have restrictions on the area or number of maps that can be accommodated on the portable computer's hard disk. Whilst distribution of data and maps are possible using wireless, PCMCIA disk, or CD-ROM you now have yet another alternative.

The hard disk unit pictured below is one of a range of devices becoming available with capacities up to 20 Gigabytes. The actual device is not much larger than a pack of twenty cigarettes, and uses a simple USB or Fire-Wire interfaces to both power and connect data to the drive.

Whilst present commercial devices are only moderately robust, and may not be completely suitable in all 'blue collar' field applications, OSYS also has the technology to deliver this technology in a robust form for those who require it. Where capacities above 20 Gigabytes are required a bespoke solution is presently indicated.
